Dover Tool uses state of the art manufacturing capabilities
and expertise to produce precision engine components, specializing in
turning, milling and drilling. Our Manufacturing Plan requires
the use of both CNC technology, manual VTL machines and qualified
personnel. Our toolmakers are instrumental in the preparation of all
operations using CNC equipment. Typically, they are: 1) planning, 2)
programming, 3) design and fabrication of fixturing and custom tooling,
4) setting up and performing the actual operation; and 5) inspecting
and documenting results. We find that having experienced personnel
operating and fine tuning an operation are extremely beneficial to the
outcome. 
Similarly, VTL operators
set-up and operate the roughing and semi-finish machining operations.
VTL's have the advantage that they can machine very large work pieces
with the stability and accuracy needed. Operation sheets are used
during these operations.
The demands on the machinist
performing this type of work is difficult to evaluate. Dover's way of
handling this challenge is to start with knowledgeable management and
qualified personnel. To ensure quality parts, only the most qualified
and trained operators are used during the various stages of
manufacturing. Dover encourages innovation in machining techniques and
tooling. We provide the latest in equipment, software and training. Our
experience with this type of philosophy has proven to be beneficial to
the company's success.
